Gel adds little relief over salt water on average. Research on blood-based care is mixed. Start with an exam, then compare likely relief, risk, cost and time. A higher price doesn't prove a better result. ## How long do cortisone shots last? For knee arthritis, the strongest benefit is often in the first one to two weeks. It tends to fade later. No benefit was shown at twenty-six weeks in the review used here. Your result may differ. Write down when relief starts, what you can do and when soreness returns. ## Why can cortisone shots be a concern? A steroid shot can cause a brief flare and may raise blood sugar.
